The well received RPG from developer Level 5, Ni No Kuni is to get an animated film based on the game. The game was praised for its beautiful art which was clearly a result of their collaboration with Studio Ghibli. Director for the project will be Yoshiyuki Momose who has directed some shorts and commercials for Studio Ghibli as well as working in the animation department on some of the other popular Ghibli titles. Joe Hisaishi will be scoring the film and has scored previous titles such as Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke.
The film will tell a new story in the Ni No Kuni world about a boy named Yu who is transported there from the real world. The movie is expected to release in Japan this summer with no word of a western release at this time.
