If you’re following my work then you’ll note yesterday my comments on the battle royale genre. It’s here to stay people; at least until it stops being cool. For now though it remains to be one of the most popular genres in video games. So much so that the Call of Duty franchise are picking it up and adding it to their collection. Black Ops 4 will feature a battle royale mode entitled Blackout.
Ahead of it’s October release, Activision and Treyarch have released a trailer for the new mode. It highlights exactly what players can expect when they join including fights mid-air, on the sea and on land. Not forgetting against those pesky CoD zombies!
Players will engage each other on a huge map made up of some familiar CoD locations. These include Nuketown Island, Array, Fracking Tower (Rust?) and the Asylum.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 drops October 12. A limited beta for Blackout will be available September 10 for PS4 players; dates for PC/Xbox have not been confirmed yet but will follow.
