The currently released PC title Wreckfest, is set to come to consoles later this year. Created by developers Bugbear Entertainment, the original developers of the FlatOut series, Wreckfest is a mix of physics, metal crunching car combat and racing. A full on destruction derby, as you aim not to win laps, but to survive the longest. It’s racing with no rules. You can crash, push and smash into cars or use the environment to take out your opponents.
As you can see from the trailer, the game has a huge focus on physical damage and bone crunching destruction. Bugbear have put in huge effort to craft a physics based playground. Target specific parts of your opponents car, so you can slow down, disable or destroy it. The downside to this is that you can also be taken out as easy, so you have to live by the tagline “Drive Hard, Die Last“.
There are several types of vehicles to choose from. These include cars, trucks, buses and even ride on lawnmowers. Wreckfest allows upgrades and customisation to your vehicles too. These give you stat boosts, along with added protection from certain damage.
Wreckfest looks like pure and downright fun. It rejuvenates and puts a much needed spin on a traditional racing game, where damaging cars and causing mayhem is encouraged.
The game has already released and is garnering a following on Steam since June. Wreckfest comes to PS4 and Xbox One on November 20th.
