Doctor Who star, Matt Smith is heading to a galaxy far far away!
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the actor is in talks to join Star Wars: Episode IX. He joins an exciting list of stars recently announced to take part in the newest film. Names include Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Keri Russell and Dominic Monaghan.
Already returning to the film include Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo and Billie Lourd. Not to mention members of the original cast, such as Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels and Billy Dee Williams. Unused footage from 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens will allow the late Carrie Fisher to appear as Princess Leia.
Smith is best known for his roles as the Doctor in Doctor Who and Prince Philip in Netflix’s The Crown. A man used to traversing time and space, he’ll no doubt make a great addition to the team!
Star Wars: Episode IX is aiming for a December 20, 2019.
