Guillermo del Toro Regrets Not Directing Harry Potter

Guillermo del Toro always has a lot of projects on his plate, so a lot of them fall apart. His list of unmade projects is as long as my arm.

Recently at a Q&A in the Annecy Animation Festival (the same one where he talked about the Hellboy reboot), he was asked if he had any regrets, and he said that not directing Harry Potter is his only regret. While this Q&A happened early this month, this question resurfaced due to Harry Potter‘s 20th anniversary.

Reportedly, the film that was offered to Del Toro was Prisoner of Azkaban. His friend Alfonso Cuarón ended up directing that one instead. Yeah, we’d be kicking ourselves too, but Cuarón did an amazing job of PoA so we’re not complaining.

Guillermo del Toro directing a Harry Potter movie would have been great though.
