There isn’t much of a reason why I’ve chosen today’s track of the day. No recent event, no prevailing zeitgeist, no ulterior motive. Not real thought in other words. Sometimes you just want to listen to good music, and you won’t find much better than Africa by Toto.
Fronted by the soothing tones of Joseph Williams (son of legendary composer John Williams) Toto produced a tune that has kept them relevant more than 30 years since it was first released in 1982. An ethereally beautiful song that has proved itself timeless (so far anyway) and if it’s the only decent track you hear today, well you’re not doing too bad.
