With the Christmas season and New Year celebrations firmly in the rear-view mirror lets all agree to never look back in case we turn to salt. Maybe you wish you could have taken your money with you into 2017, but that had to be left as offerings on the alters of presents and drink. Now all you have to show for it is a month long hangover, 3 pairs of slippers and some body, so here’s a little tune I think we can all relate to.
From 1971’s musical classic Fiddler on the Roof and sung with a wistful passion by Topol, ‘If I were a Rich Man’ is one of the greatest musical numbers of all time and is infectiously catchy. And if this rings a bell but you’re certain you know nothing about musicians on top of people’s houses, you may know the cover by Gwen Stefani that was inescapable at its height.
Regardless it’s an incredible tune and I’m broke so I sing it to make myself feel better. YABBA DABBI DIBBI DIBBI DUM!
