Paramount Pictures have released the first trailer for Ghost in the Shell. The live action film adaptation stars Scarlett Johansson and is based on the hugely popular cyberpunk manga of the same name, by Masamune Shirow.
Some fantastic cinematography and action set pieces are showcased in the trailer and it also shows off a cyberpunk, futuristic city. It follows Major (Johansson), a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.
The film is helmed by Rupert Sanders, who directed 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman. The cast alongside Johansson includes Pilou Asbaek, Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, Michael Pitt.
It is scheduled for March 31st 2017 in the US, but as of yet, ther is no specific date on an Irish release date.
