N7 day has come and gone, and with it came new Mass Effect: Andromeda details and a new trailer.

The trailer, viewable below, is purely cinematic and reveals some more of the general world players can expect from the game. The protagonists, siblings, will be taking over from their father, who is a “pathfinder.” Several Mass Effect races are revealed to be returning, and frankly, it all just looks a bit tasty!

There were some other celebratory Mass Effect things announced, first of which is that Insert Coin Clothing are working on a Mass Effect range of gear. While it’s a bit disappointing that they don’t have anything to show for it yet, it should be worth waiting for as ICC make some really nice stuff.

Following this Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 both went up on the backwards compatibility system for Xbox One. Then the biggest news of the day, Mass Effect Andromeda got a new trailer. You can view the trailer right here;

Beyond this, there was only one other piece of news, and it’s a bit awkward. They announced the Mass Effect: Andromeda Collector’s Edition which in the US does not actually include the game. It includes a steel-book case for the game and a remote control version of Mass Effects Mako, for $200. Meanwhile, in the UK it contains the game as well as the steel-book and remote control car but costs £280. Pricing for other regions isn’t known yet.

I have to be honest, I’m not a big fan of Mass Effect or Bioware games in general. I found myself a bit disappointed with this Andromeda trailer because it could just as easily be a trailer for any of the other Mass Effect games.

My hope for Andromeda is that the game feels different and fresh, and that’s just not the vibe I got from the trailer. Maybe I’m wrong and the game will be new and fantastic, I hope I am. For now, though, I’m not going to buy into the hype.
