Fans of The X-Files were ecstatic when the last season was announced. We were given six episodes to continue the series. Despite receiving a mixed response, people were left wanting more from the much-loved show.
According to Deadline, Fox is in “significant talks” to pursue more episodes. Fox Entertainment president David Madden admitted his eagerness to make news seasons. He mentioned he was in talks with the “three principals” also, hoping they would return to the show. The three principals he was talking about includes creator Chris Carter and stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny.
“We are working hard, and would like to get a new season,” he said.
When asked about whether they would change the show as a result of the mixed response, he cleared the air. “I actually think the season was strong. The episodes represent Chris and his team’s vision, and we will take our cue from them.”
Fox TV Group chairman Dana Walden added: “The show was off the air for a very long time. It was introduced to new viewers, and (the writers) had the challenge of filling in the mythology. Going forward, there won’t be the same obligation to reset the series.”
From the sound of things, a new season may be on the cards, however nothing has been made official. Only time will tell!
