The iconic opening crawl of the Star Wars films may not in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The film is the first in a planned series of off-shoots from the main movies, with the second planned to be centred around Han Solo.

Lucasfilm president, Kathleen Kennedy, spoke to Entertainment Tonight and said, “We’re in the midst of talking about it, but I don’t think these films will have an opening crawl.”

Director Gareth Edwards said, “This film is born out of a crawl. The thing that inspired this movie was a crawl and what was written in that, there’s this feelings if we did a crawl, it creates another movie.” The implication here is that it would be a never-ending loop. He ended with the line “You’ll have to wait and see.”

Rogue One will release in cinemas December 16 this year.
