Ever since the teaser image Blizzard released this week fans have been scraping to find information on Overwatch’s new hero.
Well, thankfully the wait is over! With the release of an origin video, gameplay trailer and official hero page, we get our first look at Ana.
Ana Amari, Codename: Sombra, is a support sniper with a biotic rifle. Using her arsenal of gadgets, she can both heal her allies and damage her enemies. Her kit is incredibly versatile, featuring healing and poison darts, sleep darts, biotic grenades and a nano boost as her ult.
Also worth noting is that Ana is actually Pharah’s mother, confirming the speculation done by fans. While people were also skeptical that Ana was Sombra, a comparison between Sombra’s Dossier and Ana’s official portrait seems to confirm. Ana’s full backstory can be seen on her official hero page, showing her origins as a founding member of Overwatch. Based on that story, it can be surmised that she had a friendship with Widowmaker in their past, which ended when she defected to Talon.
It remains to be seen what effect Ana will have on the state of the game, but we at The Arcade will be working on our aim in anticipation for her release. Should you wish to try out Ana a little bit early, it is possible to play her on the Overwatch PTR servers by changing your region in the Blizzard Launcher.
However, be advised that everyone is trying this, and the servers are currently crashing in response.
