It’s the news all Kingdom Hearts fans have been waiting for… No, it’s not KH3. It’s Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and yes, we recognise that the naming on these games might be getting out of hand. The new game set to bring the Kingdom Hearts franchise to PS4 for the first time bundles a new HD version of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance as well as 2 new entries to the franchise, Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover, an hour long cinematic telling the story of the Foretellers and adding new history to the universe, and Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth By Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage, which follows on from the secret ending to Birth By Sleep and shows Aqua’s struggles whilst trapped within the realm of darkness. A Fragmentary Passage is a short sequence, said by Tetsuya Nomura to last the same length as a full world in one of the main games. All games are said to use KH3‘s technology with Aqua’s story tying in to the upcoming game.
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is set to release globally in December 2016 on PS4, making it the first entry of the franchise on the console. With luck, other entries to the franchise such as 1.5 Remix and 2.5 Remix will also be brought to PS4, if only to comfort those of us who stupidly never bought a PS3.
