Disney Executives Not Happy With Rogue One

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has been ordered for four weeks of re-shoots. A source told PageSix, “the execs at Disney are not happy with the movie, and Rogue One will have to go back into four weeks of expensive re-shoots in July.”

The movie, starring Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker and Diego Luna, will be the first in a line of spinoffs that will be darker than the usual Star Wars fare. It will reportedly take a darker twist to what we have previously seen in the Star Wars universe and takes place between Episodes III and IV, with appearances from Darth Vader.

With the outstanding success of J.J. Abrams‘ The Force Awakens, there are high stakes for Rogue One to follow in its footsteps and it looks like Disney is feeling the pressure. The source of this panic reportedly comes from director Gareth Edwards‘ work on the film as the studio’s executives were unhappy with his initial cut. An insider told PageSix, “Gareth‘s work on the first Godzilla shows he can handle a big studio blockbuster. But Rogue One has fallen short of what J.J. Abrams did with Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens so Disney has ordered re-shoots.”

It’s widely known that Edwards is not fond of studio influence or intervention however Disney are reportedly standing firm as the source added, “Disney won’t take a back seat, and is demanding changes, as the movie isn’t testing well.”

There has been no official comment from Edwards or his representatives. The force may not be strong with this one!

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story comes to cinemas this December.
