Current Batman Ben Affleck has confirmed that he’s making the Batman solo film for the DC cinematic universe.
While it’s been well-known off the record, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara confirmed at CinemaCon that Affleck would be co-writing and directing a Batman solo outing for Warner Bros. and DC with DC comics CCO Geoff Johns.
No timeframe was given, but it was made known that a script draft is almost finished. With two DC-related movies having been recently confirmed to be a part of Warner Bros.’ calendar, it’s a safe bet one of those will be the as-yet-untitled Batman picture.
Affleck made his debut as the Dark Knight in Batman V Superman, which has under-performed at the box office and critically, leading many to believe that DC and WB are currently reviewing their slate for the DC cinematic universe to see how they could improve their standing with audiences. Putting the Argo director in charge of one of the benchmarks is a safe way to do it!
