Former The Tick and Rules Of Engagement star Patrick Warburton has been cast in a leading role in Netflix’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events.

The comedic actor has been added as Lemony Snicket, the pen name of series author Daniel Handler and a character in the stories who narrates the chronicles of the Baudelaire children. Through-out the books, it’s revealed Snicket is a target of the same mysterious group targeting the children, and that his history is inseparable from theirs.

Warburton joins Neil Patrick Harris for the Netflix adaptation, who has been cast as Count Olaf, the main antagonist. Of the three children protagonists, Violet, Klaus and Sonny, the Baudelaires, Malina Weissman will be playing Violet while Louise Hynes has been selected for Klaus.

This series marks the second time Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events have been adapted for screen, with the previous attempt being an ill-received movie starring Jim Carrey in 2004. True Blood showrunner Mark Hudis and Barry Sonnenfeld are heading up production, with shooting set to being this month in Vancouver.
