McDonald’s Happy Meals Transform Into VR Goggles
Toy companies are constantly trying to keep up with kids’ desires in the digital age, but we don’t think anyone expected what McDonald’s has coming to their Swedish branches in March. The restaurant has announced they’ll be testing a new design that turns their iconic Happy Meal boxes into cardboard VR goggles. Simply tear along the perforated lines, fold the box accordingly and insert your smart phone to enjoy any VR mobile experience.
In a quote by Jeff Jackett, Marketing Director of McDonald’s Sweden, he says the so-named ‘Happy Goggles’ are “a really exciting opportunity to connect families in digital times, parents can learn more about their children’s knowledge and experience of the digital world. And purposeful gaming can also be a great joint activity that helps families interact on equal terms”.
Jackett also mentioned that there is potential for the design to spread to other restaurants around the globe, but for now the only way to get your hands on one of these collectible boxes is to visit one of Sweden’s 14 selected restaurants between March 5 and March 12.
