We at The Arcade loved Fox’s Deadpool movie, and as evidenced from this story, so did a lot of other people.
According to recent statistics from the Worldwide Box Office, Deadpool grossed over $746 million making it the highest grossing R-rated movie in worldwide history. The previous holder of this title was The Matrix: Reloaded which earned roughly $742.1 million.
Interestingly, in the U.S. Deadpool is only ranked as #3 on the list of top grossing R-rated movies, having earned only $349.5 million. It is currently behind American Sniper, which sits at $350.1 million, but seeing as how cinemas are still showing Deadpool, it’s likely to beat off the competition by the time it’s done.
