Valentines Day is just around the corner, (I know *gag*) and I’ll be spending my day with food and the love of my life, Deadpool. So many people are hopping aboard the Deadpool train these days, but can you blame them? The marketing has been phenomenal, Ryan Reynolds was simply born to play Deadpool. All of his previous roles that involved any sort of comedy pointed towards the type of humour Deadpool would appreciate.

Not to mention that Deadpool is such a hopeless romantic it makes sense that the movie would be perfect for valentines day plans.

For this weeks Style Saturday I am going OTT with outfits, makeup and nails. The whole hog.The looks I am going to share are perfect for going out / date attire. As a big romantic himself I am sure he would be out trying to whoo his lady-love Death. What he feels for her is a story more beautiful than Rose and Jack.

Deadpool

For Deadpool’s outfit I had to go with the classic red and black combo. Its timeless and when done right, can look very appealing.

Since it is quite chilly at the moment, the first order of business was finding a coat. I went for a solid black coat. Since red is a bold colour I wanted to balance it between two colours while keeping it as true to form as possible. Wade wears the most black on his upper body. His shoes were going to be a nice solid black to add to the balance whilst not tipping the scale.

Next I went for a red polo shirt. Something casual, but is still smart enough to pair with jeans or chinos. I went for a nice solid colour which was close enough to the colour of Deadpool’s costume. The pants followed suit to add an extra burst of red to the outfit.

My favourite pieces of this outfit were the little accents. I went for a Deadpool belt buckle, because why not? If you can break the fourth wall I see him having no issue with wearing his own merch. The fragrance bottle is just fantastic and we can only imagine the glories come out of it is too. Plus you never know when someone might want to have a sneaky sniff.

Overall I went for a versatile, smart – casual look.

Total €146 (without fragrance)

Death

I love death, she is such a cool character and I wanted to give her an outfit that just oozes personality, which is to die for……..ugh …..I’ll see myself out.

When it comes to death her typical get up is a cloak and floor length dress. I knew I definitely needed to incorporate this in some way. Death has an essence about her that I wanted to embody so pretty everything I chose is black with subtle accents of purple.

I wanted to capture something along the lines of a Morticia Addams inspired elegance, baring in mind however that this is a date night look, not a black tie event. Something form fitting around the body that seems to move and flow was important.

Now in terms of length I was going for something practical but still classy so I went with a midi length dress with sleeves. I chose a dress with slit for that extra sultry flare.

All in all I went for mainly black coloured items with little skull accessories, inspired by my favourite look that Death has sported. The simple outfit and a statement fleshless skull for a head.

The outer wear had to have a hood of some sort, it just would not be Death without it. I went for a plain black jacket with a hood, Something minimalistic but still shows some of your shape. Black is a universally flattering colour, it is slimming and depending on the cut can show off your assets.

The shoes were my favourite part to find. I am a self confessed shoe-aholic and I always have a soft spot for killer black high-heels but functionality is also a big deal for me. So I went for a slightly chunky heel.

As for accessories the ear studs actually have black gems in the eye sockets. The necklace is a plain but statement piece. The clutch handle is what grabbed my attention, a knuckle buster with skulls and gems on it, who could say no?

Coat €23 Dress €27 Earrings €18 Bag €38 Necklace €31 Shoes €22

Total €159

Which is a little over our budget but the peieces can all be worn with other items for different combos.

Deadpool Makeup

This look is fairly simple. It can be done in a few short minutes.

On my eye lids I went full panda eye. By that I mean I smoked it out with a heavy hand. I wanted the black to be really pronounced so I used a black base for the eyeshadows I used. I mixed Dark Matter and Blackout together. I blended the edges for a softer look there but went for a more straight brow to draw attention to the eyes.

For the lips I lined them with a wine liner and filled in the red of my lip with a red pencil. Once that was done I went in with a red matte lipstick. The wine liner added a bit of dimension to my lips with this look.

My foundation was plain with no highlight of contour involved.

Death Makeup Look

For Death’s look I wanted it to be dramatic. So I started off with a pretty plain base. Then I moved on to the eyes. Skull eyes are non existent so I went for white eyeliner in a sharp and straight line. White eyeliner can have such a stunning appearance if you typically wear dark liners.

For my lips I went for a plain solid black lipstick.

The focus of this look is to carve my facial features and that is what I did. I highlighted my cheek bones with a cool white shade for extra oomph. I contoured my face to within an inch of its life. Cheeks, jaw, nose (which I never do) and temples to get sharper features.

For both looks I layered on mascara and I was good to go.

As you can tell I’m on a bit of a Deadpool high, just a tad….
