Okay, I may have said previously that Gunship’s ‘Revel In Your Time’ was my favourite music video, but I forgot about this slice of manic glory. In honour of the 2016 League Championship Series’ return, it’s time to get jinxed!
Created by Riot Games to promote the launch of their ADC Jinx, who is essentially the bastard offspring of Tank Girl and Harley Quinn, ‘Get Jinxed!’ is a great synthpunk track with some industrial and pop flair to it as well. Featuring Agnete Kjølsrud of Norwegian band Djerv on vocals, her inclusion is a perfectly unhinged compliment to Jinx’s voice actress.
The real star, though, is the video. This was the first CGI music video Riot had put out, and what a way to establish yourself. Who doesn’t want to watch an insane punk girl with heavy weaponry blowing the ever-living hell out of a steampunk metropolis? It’s a feast for the eyes, full of colour, action and great little character moments that establish Jinx as one of League‘s loopiest characters. One of my favourite touches is how all the special effects are hand-drawn, including all the explosions, gunshots, lightning blasts, and so on. It just gives the video a really nice style and it’s a treat to watch.
