It has been announced today that iconic robot wrestling extravaganza, Robot Wars, will return to the air later this year as a new series commissioned by BBC Two.
The new series is said to include a raft of technological advances made since the program debuted over ten years ago, and will be filmed in a custom-built bulletproof arena in Glasgow, with state-of-the-art cameras to capture every detail. So, as you can imagine, being a Glaswegian myself I’m slightly gushing with excitement at the prospect of getting to see some full metal carnage in the flesh.
No word on when the series will debut yet, but I’m going to be watching over this like a hawk and hoping to god I can get tickets for the recordings. I do have a few questions, though: can we expect to see veteran teams return with updated robots? Will Craig Charles return as presenter? And if he does, will he still be wearing those ludicrous yet awesome jackets? We need to know these things, BBC.
