The Pokemon Company International has revealed the format for January’s International Challenge. The Challenge, as always, will be conducted via wi-fi, as players from around the world battle it out to determine who comes out on top.

The format of January’s competition will be a Double Battle and only players with a copy of Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire will be eligible to compete. These rules will be the same as the VGC rules for 2016 which you can check out here. They allow the use of two of the following Legendary Pokémon per team: Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Xerneas, Yveltal & Zygarde.

Registration for the competition runs from January 21st to January 28th while battles will commence from January 29th and run until January 31st. All entrants get 2000 PokéMiles regardless of their ranking, and players ranking in the top 256 in each division will be awarded Championship Points that will count towards entering the Regional and World Championships in 2016.
