Marvel have published some seriously impressive Star Wars comics as of late, and they’re set to continue their golden streak by releasing an ongoing series starring the best pilot in the Resistance, Poe Dameron.
It will be written by Charles Soule and drawn by Phil Noto (of Chewbacca fame), Star Wars: Poe Dameron will be released in April and will be set before the events of The Force Awakens.
Soule said of the news: “Sometimes it can feel like the Star Wars universe is so well trodden and so many stories have already been told. But the way the Episode VII galaxy is set up, there are opportunities for new archetypes almost, and the bad guy we’re working with is going to feel fresh and cool.”
In the story, Poe is sent on a secret mission by General Leia Organa which we think could lead to his meeting with Lor San Tekka on Jakku at the start of The Force Awakens.
Soule also revealed that Poe would face off against a First Order villain created by he and Noto. As if that news wasn’t great enough, BB-8 has been confirmed to appear as well.
He concluded by saying: “It’s silly not to explore the idea of a guy who grew up steeped in the Rebellion and the older Republic and all of those myths and legends. If you think about it, he grew up the way we did, hearing all of these stories.”
