If you’ve been on the internet in the past 24 hours, you’ve likely come across this post:

Fishclarke-fish

Now, you might think, “Hey, that’s a wacky exchange! I wonder what their marriage is like!”, but there’s just a few problems with that. They are not married, they don’t have kids, Clarke is not a man, and the entire conversation is fake and based on a post apocalyptic sci-fi show called The 100. The above post, made by tumblr user Clarke Griffin Texts, was made as a joke about her favourite ship in the show. However, since posting the original, the texts have went completely viral to a point where people are actually having parenting debates based on it. In fact, recent figures show that the post has been shared on Facebook over 500, 000 times. With almost 50k notes on Tumblr, it has been shared as legitimate news by the Daily Star.

For most people unaware of The 100, this has sparked a huge debate on marriage politics, and long rants on who was in the right in the argument, and whether the puppy they bought came from a legitimate breeder. However, fans and cast on the show have been getting a fantastic laugh over the posts spread. Already, Twitter is trending with #ClarkeTheHusband, and the show’s writers and showrunner have all made posts about the phenomenon. There is also a fantastic image of Clarke’s actress Eliza Taylor being transformed into the husband we all knew she could be. There’s even a follow up text conversation made by Clarke Griffin Texts showing the fallout of Clarke and Lexa’s relationship post going viral.

Needless to say, fans of the show will be getting a good laugh out of this one for a long time. Until it dies down, we at The Arcade would like to remind everyone to always do your fact checking when on the internet, lest you accidentally change someone’s gender.

What do you think, readers? Is Fish the most adorable dog you’ve ever seen or is Clarke the hubby right and we need to bring him back? Let us know in the comments below!
