For those who may be familiar with the Civil War event in the comics, the heroes and villains of the Marvel universe were confronted with the Registration Act that required them to forfeit their super aliases and reveal their real identities to the government, operating under their guidance. However, the MCU has replaced the Registration Act with the Sokovia Accords which also stems from government officials in order to regulate the heroes, as mounting incidents like the alien invasion of New York and the destruction of Sokovia cause fear and distrust amongst the government.
