There have been countless adaptations of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan of the Apes over the years both animated and live action. Pretty much all of these adaptations follow the same story:
Young boy is raised by gorillas in the jungle. Meets English girl! Falls in love!
The Legend of Tarzan will be directed by David Yates, the director behind Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them. In a somewhat different take on the story, the movie follows a grown up Tarzan returning back to the Congo as a “civilised” man.
Our loin cloth draped hero will be played by Alexsander Skarsgård (True Blood) and Suicide Squad’s Margot Robbie will be playing the role of Jane.
Other cast members will include Djimon Hounsou, Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz.
The movie is set for release on July 1st 2016.
