After taking certain models of hoverboards off their website, Amazon is now urging their customers to throw away hoverboards altogether due to faulty cables, plugs and chargers posing a serious risk to them exploding.

According to the BBC, Amazon customers who bought hoverboards wit h”non-compliant UK plugs” have been sent emails to suggest that they throw out these devices at a nearby recycling centre. In turn, Amazon is offering a full refund which customers should expect within three days.

“We regret the inconvenience this may cause you but trust you will understand that your safety and satisfaction is our highest priority,” Amazon explained in the email.

Following on from this, it is believed that Argos will also be withdrawing its Nevaboard from the shelves for additional testing and that any customers who have already purchased these will receive a full refund. Tesco and Halfords have also followed suit and are contacting customers who have purchased the products posing the above risk.
