In 1992, when the words Star Wars were immediately associated with high quality entertainment, LucasArts lived up to that mark with Super Star Wars. Released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Star Wars re-told the epic story of Episode IV via the awesome medium of the side scrolling platform game. The trademark sounds, music, visuals and excitement were all recreated in 16-bit glory. Super Star Wars was a huge success and led to two more games being released, Super The Empire Strikes Back and Super Return of the Jedi.
Now the original classic is being re-released on Playstation 4 and PS Vita. Unlike earlier re-releases, this one is being described by Sony as an enhanced version featuring updated controls, trophies and a brand new save feature, because the older games could prove quite punishing in that regard. Also of note is that Super Star Wars is a Cross Buy title, meaning buying it on one console automatically unlocks it on the other.
No word yet on the other two games being re-released but listen to the 16-bit re-creation of the cantina music and forget all your woes.
