The latest Nintendo Direct finally put a new release date on the next Star Fox adventure – April 22, 2016. Star Fox Zero, the Wii U instalment of the space shooter, is the first home console game in the series since 2006 and was delayed earlier this year due to Nintendo wanting to improve some of the expansive areas of the game.

Zero was first announce at E3 2014 to much fanfare as fans had been waiting for a new release in the series for years. The games, which follow anthropomorphic animal space pilots engaged in an endless space war, are known for their intuitive space combat and slightly wacky design. Star Fox Zero hopes to show off some of the real technical capabilities of the Wii U as it uses the gamepad to show a cockpit view as the player plays through the game.
