This will go down in geek TV history as one of the most mortifying bloopers in news.

During yesterday morning’s Spanish morning Show, La mañana de la 1, someone made the massive mishap of posting the Rebel Alliance symbol during a segment on Syria

Jota Abril, a reporter for the show was on the show discussing the history of Raqqa, Syria, an Islamic State stronghold targeted by French strikes, in the wake of Friday’s attacks in Paris.

Abril said Raqqa, “was one of the first cities taken in 2013 by terrorist groups, but terrorist groups from al-Qaida…,” while gesturing to a black symbol above some apparent Arabic writing.

When the viewers spotted the mistake, social media was on fire with harsh criticism of the station, while some have preferred to make fun of it by doing parodies.

Jota Abril has since apologised on  Twitter. However, it should be noted, of course, that the blame doesn’t lie entirely on the presenter, as the production team actualy let this get on the air.

A lesson to everyone out there; don’t trust Google image results without checking first.
