She’s already a veritable media giant at the age of 25 from her work in X-Men, The Hunger Games and American Hustle, and now Jennifer Lawrence is ready to enter a new part of the entertainment industry. In an interview with EW Lawrence revealed she’s now pursuing directing as well, stating, “I’ve always wanted to direct since I was 16… if I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn’t have been ready.”
She expressed a desire to direct a comedy, but her debut as director will be a film called Project Delirium. According to Lawrence, the film is based on an article about the Cold War era experiments known collectively as Operation Delirium. These experiments, conducted under the supervision of Colonel James S. Ketchum, saw hundreds of healthy soldiers exposed to various mind-altering chemicals in order to conclude whether psychedelics could be used as a more humane alternative to war. Lawrence compares the film to “an acid experiment gone terribly wrong”.
With such heavy subject matter, Project Delirium seems like a challenging and innovative piece for Lawrence to test her skills. In any case, despite all her successes, Lawrence shows no signs whatsoever of slowing down.
