It was revealed back in April that Fox were working on a new iteration of the modern musical masterpiece The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The two hour show, set to be broadcast in Autumn 2016, will air on Fox and star none other than the lovely Laverne Cox (Sophia Burset from Orange is the New Black) as everyone’s favourite Sweet Transvestite, Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
Laverne Cox recently made waves as the first transgender actor nominated for an Emmy for her performance in OITNB as the prison’s transgendered hair stylist, Sophia Burset, a character well loved well loved by both critics and fans alike. However, it remains to be seen if she can fill the size 12 high heels left by the role’s previous occupant, Tim Curry.
This new production of Rocky Horror Picture Show is described as a reimagining of the cult classic, which celebrated 40 years of theatrical distribution last month, the longest in film history.
The musical is a dark rock n’ roll jaunt that follows newlyweds Janet Weiss and Brad Majors, who find themselves in the company of Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s mansion and end up on a bizarre, labyrinthine adventure of a sexually provocative nature as the doctor raises Rocky Horror during a homemade science convention.
It needs to be seen/heard to be believed!
