News of the next instalment of the Jason Bourne franchise just keeps getting better. Matt Damon has already announced that the as yet untitled fifth film will see himself, Julia Stiles and Paul Greengrass all returning to reignite the series. It has now been revealed that French film legend Vincent Cassel has been cast as an assassin with orders to kill Bourne.
Ever since his début in La Haine, he has captivated audiences world wide with his intensity and gravitas displayed in roles ranging from gangster (Eastern Promises) to dance instructor (Black Swan). His background in ballet and martial arts also make him an excellent screen fighter, as exhibited in the cult classic Le Pacte des Loups.
After the disappointment of The Bourne Legacy, Damon and Co. are certainly determined to make sure Bourne 5 will not disappoint. Vincent Cassel is an actor that delivers every time and, as long as his character is significant and is not a victim of an overzealous editor, he could very well be the best villain of the entire series.
