Back in June, pre-production for a remake of the classic comic book movie The Crow was put on hold after its star Jack Huston was forced to leave due to a scheduling conflict . A month later one of the film’s financial backers Relativity Media filed for bankruptcy. Now it looks like the director Corin Hardy will also be leaving the project.

Described by producer Edward R. Pressman as “a key creative element”, Hardy‘s role as director is in serious doubt after the bankruptcy file. Pressman, who is battling the courts on the issue stated “The production of the picture is imploding even as the time to make the picture is running out under the Crow contract.”

Throughout all the development hell, it seems that The Crow is still a strong commodity as several studios have tried to negotiate a deal with Relativity over production rights. Relativity, and Edward R. Pressman in particular, are not budging unless they are confident they can get an investment of up to 12 million dollars.

With one setback after another even in the early stages, it doesn’t seem likely that The Crow will be completed anytime soon.
