Men In Black To Return As A Trilogy Without Will Smith
It is difficult to think of the Men in Black film series without the slick performance of Will Smith as Agent J springing to mind. Unfortunately it looks like despite a potential resurgence of the series in the works, Smith won’t be getting a look-in. Producers of the original trilogy Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald confirmed in an interview with THR the low possibility of Smith appearing in the reboot with “most likely no.” Whether this means the reboot will be a semi-sequel akin to the recent Star Trek films or a complete overhaul remains to be seen.
There is a lot of content from Lowell Cunningham’s comic series including demons, zombies and werewolves to choose from. For that matter, it is worth asking whether the new trilogy will retain the original series’ comic tone or opt for the bleak themes of the source material. After all, much of the humour in the films was derived from Agent J.
