We’ve known for a while now that 2017’s Spider-Man reboot won’t be yet another origin story, but now we have a couple more details courtesy of director Jon Watts. In an interview with Empire Magazine (issue 317 by way of Yahoo!) Watt talked more about the tone of the movie, Tom Holland’s backflip skills and confirmed how old our new Peter will be.

“There are only so many times you can kill Uncle Ben. I love the idea of making a coming-of-age high-school movie,” Watts told Empire. “We’re really going to see Peter Parker in high school and get deeper into that side of it. He’s just 15 now… Tom was pretty perfect. He’s very athletic. He can actually do a backflip! If he didn’t already capture the spirit of the character, with that on top the kid is Spider-Man.”

Sony and Marvel Studio’s Spider-Man reboot will be released on July 28, 2017. The movie will star Tom Holland as Peter and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, both of whom we’ll be meeting in next year’s Captain America: Civil War.
