One of the most iconic vampire films of all time Nosferatu is being remade. Deadline are reporting that a new production based on the 1922 silent film has been greenlit by Studio 8. The remake, as yet untitled, will be written and directed by Robert Eggers, whose movie The Witch earned him a directing award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
This isn’t the first time Nosferatu has been remade, with a 1979 Werner Herzog version as well as a meta-remake which retells the story from the perspective of the crew making the film titled Shadow of the Vampire that was released in 2000. There is no planned release date at present.
