Warhammer fans have not had the best of luck when it comes to game adaptations in the past few years, with atrocious titles like Warhammer 40,000: Storm of Vengeance. However, a new Warhammer title has been announced by developer NeocoreGames (Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing) titled Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr that may be about to buck the trend

The game is described as a “persistent sandbox action-RPG” with the sandbox mode being added in after the main story. “The story continues in a colossal sandboxed game set in the same secluded sector of this vast universe,” the developers said in a statement. “This persistent setting grants years of constant entertainment, gradual development and a continuous flow of content that enriches the action-RPG gameplay.”

If you are worried about the developer not respecting the Warhammer license, NeocoreGames have discussed the reasons why they chose the franchise, with Producer Zoltán Pozsonyi stating: “There’s a reason why we chose the world of Warhammer 40,000: it’s intense, brutal, visceral—a perfect material for an action RPG. We’re huge fans as well, so we care deeply about this game.”

Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr is set to release for Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2016.
