As we all already know, rumours regarding Konami and Hideo Kojima‘s position have been circulating for months, without any real resolution to the matter. One certain issue that has been re emerging for months now is the issue of whether Kojima‘s name would be left on the Metal Gear Solid V box, as his name has been wiped from previous box art, including Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

It would seem that our fears were correct, as Konami has released updated box art for Metal Gear Solid V that no longer features the line, ‘A Hideo Kojima Game’. Konami has released an image of both boxes side by side, one with Kojima’s name, and one without, making a clear comparison and letting fans know that Kojima is indeed not being credited as he has in the past.

Every key game in the Metal Gear series has featured the line, ‘A Hideo Kojima Game’ and with the sudden removal of such an important tag line, Konami is adding a lot more evidence that they wish to distance themselves from Kojima in the future. We may never know what happened between the two sides, unless an NDA agreement ends or either party will be allowed to comment on the situation.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will release for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on September 1.
