Cartoon Network Confirm Same-Sex Couple For Steven Universe
While our adventure with the world and characters of Steven Universe has only just kicked off we’re very much aware that the fans are just as eager and inquisitive as any other group out there.
Recently the nature of the relationship between two ‘Gems’, Sapphire and Ruby raised a lot speculation amongst viewers. Many felt there was more to their relationship than them being just good friends and now Ian Jones-Quartey, co-executive producer of the show has confirmed it over Twitter:

While they’re not the first same-sex couple to feature in a mainstream cartoon series, their inclusion only further strengthens the representation of the LGBT+ community and their relationships.
