The Gears of War series has been dormant for too long and now we have two offerings to satiate our appetites. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is a remastering of the first Gears of War that will be released August 26th. It will have all the good stuff we come to expect from modern gaming such as 1080p and 60 fps (while in multiplayer). Players can try out a week long beta of Ultimate Edition starting today!
More importantly, the next actual installment in the shooter, Gears of War 4, was shown off with a gameplay demo showing a slightly different game than what we’re used to. The two characters, one male, one female, make their way through a darkened abandoned village on the hunt for some monsters while a storm rages on in the background. Onlookers noticed the aesthetic bears a strong resemblance to RPG series Dark Souls, complete with slower paced action and more apprehensive gameplay, but when the action kicked off, it had that distinctive cover-shooter style we know and love.
Gears of War 4 is set for a Spring 2016 release with a beta coming with the Ultimate Edition.
