It seems that many beloved movies are getting additions to their franchises, like Maleficent, which is now getting a sequel. Pitch Perfect 3 is also currently in development, with stars Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson returning to reprise their roles as Beca and the beloved Fat Amy.
Yesterday, Universal announced the film’s release date as the 21st of July, 2017. We won’t be getting our Fat Amy fix for another two years, but we have a lot to look forward to! The movie will be opening around the same time as the new Planet of the Apes flick and Sony and Marvel’s new Spider-Man film (yes, another one).
It’s unclear whether Elizabeth Banks will return as director, though it’s been confirmed she will produce the upcoming film. Although Pitch Perfect 2 wasn’t as enjoyable as its predecessor, it dominated at the box office. With screenwriter Kay Cannon coming back for a third time to write the script, hopefully we’ll see more of the original film’s surprise and hilarity.
