The Simpsons Renewed for 2 More Seasons
The longest running scripted animated series on TV is continuing its reign for at least another two more seasons.
It was announced on Monday that Fox would be renewing the series bringing the total number of episodes to 625.
The network released a “statement” from Homer Simpson: “I’ve outlasted Letterman, Jon Stewart and ‘McDreamy,’ because I have something they don’t: a costly 200-donut-a-day addiction.”
For some perspective on the show’s incredible longevity, Entertainment Weekly reported that “it would take you 12 days (including commercial breaks) to watch every episode—all 574 of them—through this current season.”
The renewal comes after a season that saw the long running animated show find new life through a huge deal with FX that brought the entire library to the network and the various platforms that Fox provides.
