CBS’ 2015/2016 slate has started off on the right foot as the Supergirl adaptation has been greenlit for a full first season. The show is the third DC series from producer Greg Berlanti, whose Arrow and The Flash have received huge critical acclaim over at The CW. Another Arrow/The Flash spinoff is coming over at The CW this Fall, but neither that nor Supergirl have a set air-date.
Supergirl will star Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers/Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman, at age 24. The series will focus on her acceptance of her powers and her role as a superhero, having hid who she is since leaving Krytpon.
The pilot was written by Berlanti, Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg, and will also feature Mehcad Brooks, Calista Flockhart and Dean Cain in the cast.
