Season Four Of Sherlock Will Be “Tough”

Season four of the popular show isn’t set to begin filming until spring 2016, as stars Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) and Martin Freeman (Dr. Watson) have other commitments and tight schedules.

As much as we’d like them to drop all their Hollywood roles and give us Sherlock sueprfans what we want, we can only hope for tid bits of information on plans for the famous detective.

During an interview with EW.com, series co-creator Steven Moffat has said, “[Season four] is going to be… I suppose you’d say… consequences. It’s consequences. Chickens come to roost. It’s dark in some ways – obviously it’s great fun and a Sherlock Holmes romp and all that – but there’s a sense of things coming back to bite you.”

And if you think this season is going to be any easier to watch, think again. “[Fans will feel] desperate for series 5. We’re certainly going to put them through the mill. It’s going to be more of an emotional upheaval. Hopefully enjoyable and fun, all the things Sherlock must always be. It will be tough at times. Maybe that’s the word? A tougher series.”

Cryptic though his hints may be, we can’t help but think that the door to Mary Watson’s past isn’t quite shut yet. And, of course, there’s the big reveal regarding the last minute in season three’s finale to address. Let’s be real, though; we’ll probably be facing another nail-biting cliffhanger for season 5 as well.

Thankfully, Sherlock is so popular with fans that it could be three years in the making and we’d all still be thinking and talking and tweeting about it. If you’re itching for your Sherlock fix, however, all three seasons are currently on Netflix and a Victorian-themed Christmas special is set for release in December.
