There are a number of cult films getting a second lease of life this year, like the recent Poltergeist, and it looks like fan-favourite The Craft is set to join the list of remakes.
The original film was about four teenage witches who attended a Catholic school and practiced witchcraft to further their personal needs and vendettas. Naturally, this doesn’t always end well.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures is bringing the movie back to life with Leigh Janiak (Honeymoon) on board to direct. Janiak will also co-write the film’s script with Phil Graziadei. Joining Janiak and Graziadei is the original movie’s producer, Doug Wick along with Vice Chairman of Columbia, Lucy Fisher.
If Janiak‘s critically acclaimed horror-flick Honeymoon is any indication of what’s to come, we think The Craft could be set to become a surprise hit.
