If there’s one thing that tickles me the right way, it’s the idea of a film festival dedicated to the wonders of sci-fi and fantasy cinema. Imagine, a weekend’s worth of incredible stories being told in the most fanciful way, from all around the globe… Bliss!
That’s exactly what Metropolis Sci-fi And Fantasy Film Fest is. Aiming to “bring some of the best science fiction, fantasy and cult film from around the globe” to a major Dublin cinema (with some comic convention elements to boot), Metropolis is a film festival hoping to run 24th to 27th of September 2015.
The brainchild of prominent members of the Dublin film community Anna Taylor and Derek O’Connor, who have hosted and organized film events in Ireland for years, not to mention helping to produce Irish films and keep the spirit of cinema alive in our fair country, Metropolis is a celebration of cult cinema in a way rarely seen on this island. Not only will there be screenings, but also workshops, talks and even cosplay and a fan ball!
However, given the relatively niche audience that comes with science fiction and fantasy film (not every film’s a blockbuster!), the festival has turned to a fundit page in order to allow interested prospective audience members enter on the ground level with helping the event be brought to life.
