The director of the second Star Wars stand-alone anthology film, Josh Trank, has parted ways with Lucasfilm and Disney and will no longer be taking part in the project.MV5BNTUyNDU3MTE0N15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMzI2OTU5Ng@@._V1_SX214_CR0,0,214,317_AL_
In a press release from Lucasfilm, it is said that the separation was Trank’s decision and entirely his choice. The Chronicle director stated, “After a year of having the incredible honor of developing with the wonderful and talented people at Lucasfilm, I’m making a personal decision to move forward on a different path. I’ve put a tremendous amount of thought into this, and I know deep down in my heart that I want to pursue some original creative opportunities.
Josh is about to release Fantastic Four for Fox, a comic book adaptation that still has yet to convince the masses of its quality (though it is starting to get there). There is hearsay that this decision isn’t as amicable as it has been made out, but we will never know. One thing is for sure, it must be big to make a director leave a Star Wars film all of a sudden, and whatever Josh’s next film is, I sure he finds the fulfillment he looking for out of it.
