The Gilmore Trail, a UK based band in Sheffield, is a post-rock quartet with incredible soulful instrumental music. They have a wonderful sound that holds true to the band’s namesake – the Gilmore Trail – that can be found in remote Alaska.gilmore outdoors The trail is renowned for having one of the most memorable experiences of the Northern Lights.
The band features Sam Ainger on drums, David Ivall and Danny Mills on guitar, and Joe Richards on bass.
Their music has a post-rock edge, with a mix of influences including Sigur Rós, Oceansize, Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, King Crimson, God is an Astronaut, Pink Floyd, Intronaut and Buckethead.

The Floating World will be their second album; the band had their first EP ‘Circles of Least Confusion’ which came out in October 2011 and resulted in some amazing support from BBC Radio Sheffield. They released their debut full length album ‘Sailing Stones’ which was released in January 2013.gilmore newspaper
Since then, The Gilmore Trail have been going from strength to strength with support acts for Losers, Nordic Giants and China Drum and a headline performance in 2014’s ‘Tramlines’ festival.
You can get a taste of their new material on the atmospheric ‘Memories of Redfern’ – the first track to be taken from the new album The Floating World – here.

The Gilmore Trail
are always looking to expand what they can offer in their nature-inspired soundscape music. They have mastered the musical technique and combined it with the array of pedals that they use to create a sound that’s both melancholy and upbeat.
Their music is inspiring and wonderful easy listening. With the current music scene as it is with various artists trying to get their musical imprint out there, I am glad to see something truly unique in the soundscapes and music provided by The Gilmore Trail.  Fans of both instrumental music and music from the likes of Kodaline or Hozier would love this!
