Scarlett Johansson To Star In Dreamworks’ Ghost In The Shell
The Ghost in the Shell adaptation planned from Dreamworks is one that has many wondering if it will actually happen, considering the fabled Akira western attempt has made its home in production purgatory. Variety have just signaled that this new GitS film is happening, as none other than Scarlet Johannson has signed on to take a leading role.
Based on Shirow Masamune’s mange of the same name, the Ghost in the Shell feature-length anime is one that is very highly regarded film, having garnered a huge following around the world. It is suspected that Scarlet will be playing lead protagonist Motoko Kusanagi, a field leader of a team that combat cyberterrorism and cybercrime in a fictitious future dystopia. Ghost in the Shell uses this team and this cyberpunk world to handle themes of existentialism and the relationship between humans and technology as both continue to evolve.
As yet. there is no planned release date or any other details concerning the Dreamworks film.
